Summer Reading Two

Book: Sunrise Over Fallujah
Genre: Fiction

            The Main Character in Sunrise over Fallujah is Private Robin Perry A.K.A. Birdy from Harlem, New York. He joined the Army and is put into CA or Civil Affairs. He is then put into a squad with Jonesy, Marla and Captain Coles. Robin or Birdy Joined the army with no blessing from his father. He wishes Robin was going to college instead of into the army. However even though his dad doesn’t think Robin  doing a good thing for his country, his mom thinks he is. Robin writes letters to his parents but he also writes letters to his uncle Richie who went to Vietnam. At the end of the war Robin understands why his uncle never wanted to talk about his experiences and apologized for asking about what happened many times.
            Sunrise Over Fallujah Starts out with a roll call. When your last name is called out you say your full name and where you are from. Then some of the high officers made speeches on what the CA unit would be doing over in Iraq. The Brass or head honchos also said how much faith they had in the CA unit. How this new concept they had hoped it would work. The soldiers then left and had some R and R. After the soldiers had been put into their units they had to decide what people would do what. Jonesy would drive. Marla was on the squad gun. Captain Coles would ride shot gun and Birdy would switch out with Marla on the squad gun.
